Waiting......

I would like to thank you all for your messages of condolence and support and also Antonella and her family for the bereavement card they sent to us.

We have been told that, due to a large number of deaths, we will not even hear about a death certificate until this coming Friday but also they will not decide until about mid-week as to whether there will be a post-mortem or not. The hospital had not expected him to die, so this could well be a possibility.

Of course, there is also going to be a delay with any undertaker for the same reason that we cannot get a death certificate so it looks as if the burial will take place well into December. We can only hope it will all be done by Christmas.

So the pattern goes on. Our mother was buried on the 17th December and our father died on December 26th as well as my maternal Grandfather who also died in December and had a burial straight on top of Christmas.

So, we remain very much in the dark as to what is going to happen and when.

This should be such a happy time for us as, on this coming Sunday, 5th December, Mike and I celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary (40 years). Of course, this cannot be the same now. Nobody in the family feels like celebrating. We had intended to invite Geoff up for a few hours and he was looking forward to it.

I truly dislike Christmas now, it is full of nothing but sad memories.

Thank you all again for your love and support. All your messages have touched us deeply.

I will be back when I can but all this has made me feel very unwell and I cannot put my heart into anything. I find myself unable to read, concentrate on the television or listen to the radio. I still cannot really believe he is gone.

  1. Jeannette,
It is deeply sad coincidence that your close relatives all seem to pass away in the month of December, which is supposed to be such a joyous month. Well, it is not for everybody.
It is distressing that you are not able to have initial closure on your brother's death (by virtue of a funeral) for all the reasons you mention, but I hope that those formalities can be cleared soon. I wish you and yours all strength in days and weeks to come. Although it's not even December yet, I do hope 2011 will be better for you.

  18. Jeanette it is indeed hard to be in a festive mood when your heart is so sad...Joe & I celebrated our 32 year anniversary on May 5th and one month later he was gone..so with all do respect for your brother I still say..hug your man and celebrate in some way the glorious years that you have had together, its important. You also write so well you need to tell the stories of the loved ones who have passed that way they remain in everyone's memory....love you, Sandi
