Shotgun Slaughter

Photobucket

The whole of the U.K. is shocked by the massacre that took place today. A self-employed taxi driver went on the rampage with a shotgun.

In Cumbria, a beautiful area, very popular with holidaymakers.

He killed twelve people and wounded twenty-five others before driving to woodland and committing suicide. Absolutely horrendous.

Our hearts go out to all the relatives of those killed and injured, ordinary people on an ordinary day going about their business. To lose anyone is bad enough - to have them randomly shot down by a total stranger must be so very hard to bear and to come to terms with. May God give them strength to cope with this awful tragedy.

However, the killer's own family is to be pitied. Although divorced, he apparently did have a child or children as he recently became a grandfather. What a legacy to leave to them.

Nothing further is known at this time.

As I said, we are all deeply shocked. May those innocent souls rest in peace.

  3. Hello Jeannette
It is so very sad and has been reported that his mother is suffering from cancer too. He has a twin brother who is a policeman. How must his family be now feeling? The Lake District is not far from where I live and we often go there even for the day, such a lovely part of the world.

  6. Isn`t it appalling Jeannette? I hadn`t heard about it until this evening when I switched on the news. Whatever lead this man to do such a terrible thing. My thoughts are with the famillies of those who lost their lives and those in hospital because of their injuries.

  12. I'm shocked beyond belief, dear Jeannette. There is no reason on earth - divorced, unstable, abused as a child or whatever other reason the various shrinks may adduce now - for this horrendous crime. And where were the Police? No words anymore. A.
