Happy New Year To You All

Photobucket

In a very short time they will be ringing in the New Year. The first decade of this century will pass into history.

In some parts of the world that has already happened and 2010 has begun. Mike and I will watch the fireworks from London, exchange a kiss and a hug and wish each other the best of health and happiness.

Much has happened, the last decade saw the death of my much loved brother, the horror and shock of 9/11, the London Bombings, swine flu, bird flu, the election of the first black president of the United States, the passing of several of our J-Land friends and so very very much more. You have all lived through it so you already know these things, apart from personal tragedies that you might have experienced yourselves.

2009 has not been a good year. The world is in a recession, wars are still being fought, troops are still laying down their lives. It has been a difficult year for many. Our government here has been rocked by members' expenses scandals and the New Year will see a general election. Whether it will improve things remains to be seen.

One thing is certain. None of us know what this new year holds. We all walk together into the unknown, in that we are united no matter what religion, colour or race. We all hold a hope for peace, stability in the world, good health for ourselves and our loved ones. We hope there will be more good news than bad. Whatever has happened in this first decade is done, it is over. We can only strive to make this start of the next decade as good as we possibly can, to do our very best.

I wish each and every one of you what you would wish for yourselves, that not only includes my regulars, but all in those countries who have paid my writings a visit. We will never meet in person but we share the same needs, the same desires.

So HAPPY NEW YEAR, dear friends and readers and may whatever God you believe in walk beside you now and always.

  22. It's 14 degrees this morning in the Washington, DC, area, so I really appreciated the lovely flower garden picture when I logged on. I hope your husband's eye operation was successful and he recovers quickly. I look forward to your entries in the coming year. Linda in DC
