Poorly

Just a quick entry. I had to cancel my hospital appointment this morning at the breast unit, where I was due to have a check-up with my surgeon.
I have been down with a bug this last couple of days and was very rough yesterday. Swollen glands, sore throat, temperature, earache, etc. etc. Not much better today.

I had hoped to keep the appointment as it would have been out of the way and behind me, instead of hanging over my head yet again. When Mike phoned the clinic they said we had done the sensible thing. They do not appreciate people going in with colds or infections. Obviously surgeons are there, nurses on duty and patients who are on treatment, not forgetting the reception staff. I knew it would not be fair me seeing my surgeon if I am carrying any sort of infection, as he will be operating on people this week. We could not make a new appointment over the telephone. Apparently, they have to send one in the post. So, I have no idea when it will be now.

I feel so depressed today. Firstly at not being well. Secondly at having to cancel. I had hoped to get it done and dusted.

I will be back writing when I feel better. I just wanted to let you all know, as I did put on my journal that I had the appointment - and I did not want anybody worrying that there might have been a problem. Let us hope and pray there never will be a problem again.

  11. I hope you feel better soon. I know you would have rather gotten this over with. Thanks for thinking of the nurses, doctors and other patients. As a nurse who is only allowed to miss 6 days a year I do appreciate it.

  30. Jeannette,
Take it easy and take your time getting better. It is of course disappointing not to be able to attend the clinic, but if you're poorly, you can't go. Get well soon.

  39. so sorry you are under the weather, Jeannette and you had to cancel your appointment, but I agree, better to not get anyone else sick; hoping each day you feel a bit better and your appt won't be too far away when you get notified of it

did want to say congrats for winning the weekly sentence at Val's; that was a cute sentence; we do have weary minds from learning new things here don't we?

  40. Sorry you missed your appointment, Jeannette.

You did do the wise thing though because, as you know, those with cancer often have low immune systems because they have had chemo, and it would be so easy for one of them to have had picked up your sickness. And then perhaps they wouldn't have been able to fight it off with their low immune system. John has the problem of easily catching things at times. That's why he wears a mask when his immunities are low -- so he won't catch anything. So you did good.

But that doesn't help YOU feel any better. So sorry this had to happen to you. I will pray you get a rescheduled appointment in the post soon, telling you of your appointment. And that when you do go in for your appointment you'll get an all clear.

Try not to worry, Honey. I know, easy for me to say, I am not going through it... JUst know I am praying for you.

  41. One more thing, Jeannette, congrats on winning the Weekly Sentence With Val. Your sentence was great! And boy did you have stiff competitin this time! There were several good ones, so you should feel very honored to win!

  45. Looks like you have some very interesting historical entries here which I will come back and read when I have time. I wanted to check on you since I saw Call for Support said you were ailing. I know that check-up clinic is always a little dreaded, as my sister Ann has them periodically to check on her breast cancer history. I was shocked to read about Donna's heart attack, so I rushed over to your journal to make sure you had not taken a turn for the worse. Too many ailing bloggers at once is stressful. I was wiped out all during the migration. I was surprised it affected me so much. But I reacted to the ones who had been a part of J-land a lot longer than I had, and I knew they felt as though they had gotten uprooted from their town, but things seem to be going pretty well here on blogspot. And people are again able to keep track of each other. Gerry
