Soaking Saturday + Photos
The rain has not stopped all day here and neither have the skies lightened.
I hope you all had a happy Halloween. As expected we had no trick or treaters here. It simply is not celebrated in this area, or, if it is, then it is done at family parties.
So, J-Land is finished. The plug has been pulled. Four and a quarter years gone forever.
Jeannette's Jottings is no more and there is nothing to do but to move on. I will never have the same heart for it though, they smashed our community and I doubt it will ever be rebuilt, not as it was. Some things can never be duplicated.
Anyway, I do not have much to write about today. I have a hospital appointment on Monday to see my surgeon again (I really do not know why after all this time, except for the fact that my breast was badly damaged by radiation) so I am not looking forward to that and already getting nervous.
I do have some photos to share with you though. Jesse and Jack think they own the place at times!
Here they are relaxing whilst Mike and I were busy doing other things. First comes Jesse who always sleeps on his back with his legs in the air!
Next comes Jack who took Jesse's place as soon as he vacated it.
Lastly, Leo. He chose to take his siesta in Jack's bed.
We love them all to bits of course. Tonight will not be a good night for the dogs. The fifth of November firework display is taking place tonight, very near to us, if it is not rained off. They had to pick tonight because the actual date is midweek. So, we will have two nervous wrecks on our hands in a few hours time.
Well, on a day like this there is only one thing to do. Get comfy and snuggle up with a good book. I shall start to read the autobiography of Tony Curtis.
Have a good weekend everyone.

I'll have to get the Tony Curtis Autobigraphy, he's been on TV a lot recently.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you over your journal, as you say over four years, work, and most of all the comments which I know mean a great deal to you, especially after the last year. hope you will carry on I know it won't be the same, but we can try. Miserable day here too, dogs and cats always know where to snuggle up don't they...lol.
On the other matter just tried and the site is down again, will check back later.

I am with you on the rant, Jeannette, we've been tossed aside like so much dirt. Well, I've taken over Magic Smoke. AOL = America Off Line.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry your journal was lost. I couldn't believe it when I checked yesterday and mine too was gone. We start new every day and that's is just what our community here online must do. I find that most of us are here on blogger now and I will do my part to keep in touch with everyone. I hope you rejoy your comfy read and thanks for the SMILES with the pictures of your dogs today. They look like they are comfy too.

Glad I didn't read this last night. Eileen x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you lost all your comments and disgusted at AOL's attidude. Loved your photos, they certainly lead a charmed life and hasn't Leo grown. You will see that I am commenting as Anonymous.........somehow it won't let me post under my name! My previous comment was not meant for here but for your Halloween entry! Eileen x
ReplyDeleteJust like AOL to do that Jeannette though I had a feeling that they would be useless at the end. I was lucky that my journal plus comments transferred over without problems. I doubt I`ll ever use it again but at least all those years of writing are still there. Of course those comments were very important to you after what you`ve been through as I know they contained all those kind messages of support that helped you through the worst times. If AOL had a shred of decency they would have realised that journals were very important to their authors. Why else would they keep them for 5 years or more. I`m so sorry you were let down. As for the JLand community, I think it will carry on, just in another place with a different format and it might be even better given time.
ReplyDeleteI`ll be thinking of you on Monday and I`ll say a little prayer. I know you will be fine. Take care dear friend.
Love Sandra xxxxx
Oh yes, how could I forget. The dogs look so comfy in those photos. LOL at Jesse sleeping with his legs in the air. Doesn`t he have any dignity...lolol! :o)

i am thankful at the last day i was able to get the Pet Memorial over here, with everything intact. if you've not mentioned it in an entry, please do so, many j-landers have pets there & do not know they have came with us.
have a lovely wkend my friend, try to relax & put this behind you, there's nothing we can do now but go forward.
huggies...
I'm so sorry for you and Donna and other's who didin't move over smoothly (or at all). It is incredibly sad that AOL was so unfeeling about the whole process. I don't anticipate AOL being around much longer. Love your animal's photo's.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Joyce
I am so sorry you've lost your journal and AOL failed to come through for you in the end. You have every reason to be angry. I do agree with you that we will never have the same thing over here as we did on AOL, it just seems so vast & scattered. Well we do the best we can with what we have to work with I suppose. I hope the furry ones make it through the fireworks okay. Enjoy your read & your evening.
ReplyDeleteHello Jeannette,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are at Blogger. I am saddened by the fact that AOL closed our other journal land. I had decided to come here because I didn't want to lose certain friendships. I was wondering if you knew I was here at Blogger. I have missed hearing from you very much. Take care dear friend.
Leo is getting so big and Jack and Jessie are still so cute...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry they didn't get your entire journal over Jeannette. Linda at Footprints In The Sand lost hers too, she couldn't get it to transfer and neither have AOL. It's been dark here all day, I woke up at 9am thinking it was still night! Good luck with your appointment on Monday. Looks like it's a dogs ~ and cats ~ life in your house! Lol! Jeannette xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanette. I'm sorry you were treated so badly and how easily aol dismissed these journals that needed help. Mine went over just fine and it really didn't matter to me. Your's was different with all you had in it. I really think Blogger is going to be OK and it seems everyone I know is doing just fine with it :)..........
ReplyDeleteDearest Jeannette, I am sure many of you who were part of AOL are so disappointed. For us that are newer we are still glad that you have continued on and will rebuild memories.
ReplyDeleteLove Lori
AOL did a very bad thing to us! I was able to save my 2 journals but noticed that one of them that some of pictures have faded. My dog bandit does not like fireworks either.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your journal hon. I hope you know I'm here for you. At the very least we have attained some of the friendships we built over there. Your in my thoughts dear friend. (Hugs)Indigo
ReplyDeleteOh Jeanette I am so sorry that they did that to you. With mine they kept the comments but deleted every single picture, so some of what I wrote sounds stupid without the accompanying pictures. If I didn't have my aol email tied into so many things I would walk away from them right now...Aol sucks and I'm also having a fit with Ebay..they are doing the same thing..wanting to close down any communications between sellers. We have "neighborhoods" in which we help one another with any selling problems..well I just learned that they plan to shut that down because they do not want to police the dialogues anymore. Is this a pattern? The big guys are controlling the internet, kind of pushing us into corners where they want us, allowing us to communicate here but not over there? They are making me paranoid...hope Monday goes well for you. love, Sandi
ReplyDeleteTag- You're it. Go read my blog. http://therustyspigot.wordpress.com/

Awwww it is sad Jeannette and you have every right to rant! You rant away, AOL are the pits! Love the pics of your lovely pets, Oscar says Woof woof to them and he was absolutely terrified last night too. I think we will get a lot this year with the Nov 5th being a Wednesday that means two weekends. Poor doggies! Good luck for Monday. Be thinking of you my friend. Love Laine xxxx

Hi Jeannette, No comment about the AOL failures. Try to be positive and remember that most of us have followed you here. I'm sorry for the comments you lost, but I'm sure they'll remain alive in your memory. All the best. Ciao. Antonella
ReplyDeleteJeannette.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry that AOHell saw fit to ignore you and that your journal has gone.
Am behind with mails at the moment, but just wanted to comment. I love the voice activated thing apart from the fact that the guy sounds soooooooo bored....... lol

Take care
hugs Jayne
