Goodbye To A Dear Friend And Wonderful Companion
In memory of our beloved Jester (Jesse) who was put to sleep this evening to end his suffering.
8th December 2001 - 17th September 2012
The most gentle and loving creature. Despite the best treatment from the vet, it had no effect and he was in a lot of pain. We know we did the right thing but that does not stop the tears falling from both of us. We are heartbroken.
He was a wonderful companion not only to us but also to the late Pip whom many of you will remember and for the last few years to Jack who is now wandering through our home looking for Jess.
He slept by the bed each night and had never been away from us. He was with me through my cancer treatment and barely left my side. When I came home from the nine day hospital stay having my knee done he went mad with joy.
We have Jack and Leo of course but Leo is out more than he is in and there is a strange emptiness to our home that was not there before. Jess was always following us around to see what I was doing, to see what Mike was doing. He always seemed to be everywhere.
How we will miss him singing along to the Coronation Street theme tune and the mad water games in the garden.
He was obedient, loyal. loving. faithful and also very beautiful if you call a male dog beautiful.
We will never forget him. His ashes will be coming home to us to rest beside Pip's casket. We like to think he is with Pip now racing across some green field - all pain gone.
Rest in peace beloved friend. We love you and always will.

ReplyDeleteJeanette, my heart breaks for you and almost again for myself as I had to put my wee DeeDee to sleep just before Xmas..and oh how I miss him even now ..It is one of the hardest things I think we can do but also one of the kindest things we can do, it is only love that see's us through the love we have for our beloved pets. knowing that we did our best...then the love shown to us by our friends...know that you are often thought about, and very special prayers will be offered for you tonight as I know you will have many tears as you try to sleep.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight and God bless you ALL x
Jeannette, I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Jesse's passing. I know the pain you're feeling. It's been over thre years since my little Gabi Lin passed and I still tear up when I think of her. We have to be comfortable with the fact that we loved and were loved and that we gave them the best life possible. Jesse and Pip are together across the Rainbow Bridge, their pain is gone. Hugs to both of you and to the furrs left behind who are also grieving.
ReplyDeleteso very very sorry Jeannette... sending love and strength
ReplyDeleteJeannette, I am so sorry for you. I think I get an idea of what Jess meant to you. She was there when you were at a low ebb, and like all pets, was a member of your family and household. As Linda said, you'll meet again beyond the Rainbow Bridge. Her suffering is over.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, I remember when you lay your Pip to rest. I am sorry to hear about Jess. Our pets are so treasured and it is hard to loose one. We had to put our Rotty mix Ester to sleep last month. It is so hard. Hugs for you.
ReplyDeleteI will always have fond memories of Jesse playing water games in the garden. He was a true and loyal friend and we will miss him as well. The pain and grief you feel right now will ease. Remember his companionship and smile. He is free of pain and at peace now he has crossed the rainbow bridge and is probably running round with Pip. Love Becky, Dean, Nathan & Daniel XX
ReplyDeleteOh my I can sincerely sympathize with your loss. Your dear Jesse was such a great companion to you. I'm saddened by the news. I have lost all my dear pets and know how hard it is. Keeping the good memories we have of them is all we have left. I do think he and Pip will be playing together united as the friends they were. I can quite imagine Jack is looking for Jesse too. He grew up with him always there. I remember when he joined your family. I'm so glad you are back with us posting to let us know what is going on there. A sorrow shared is half the sorrow they say. Take care my friend.
ReplyDeleteso sorry, jeannette. i know how precious our animals are to us. remember this angel forever, since jesse was with you throughout your cancer treatments and your other moments of strife. nothing can be said by me or anyone else to bring a smile to your face at this time. so just know that you are ever in my prayers, but especially now. hugs, my sweet friend.

ReplyDeletecondolences my old friend, on your loss of dear jess. i, remember when he first came to live with you, after your precious pip left for the rainbow bridge. i believe pip was there to greet jess as he arrived at the bridge, may they romp thru the grassy fields together, playing & free from all pain, where they'll wait for that special day when you join them. God bless...
ReplyDeleteOh Jeannette, I'm so sad to hear that Jesse has had to be put to sleep. O know how much it hurts to lose our pets. I hope Jack will soon settle and get used to Jesse not being there. Prayers to you and Mike. Jeannette xx
ReplyDeleteMy dear Jeannette, I was so distressed to hear your news this afternoon. It was the last thing in the world I expected to hear however, I knew something dire had happened as soon as you answered the telephone, no words seem sufficient in this situation for I know what Jesse meant to you and Michael. You say Jack is different, he too has lost a member of the family too. My love to you and to the memory of Jesse.
ReplyDeleteC xx
