A SPECIAL BEAR
Perhaps a little scruffy now but not surprising as she has been dragged from pillar to post.
My daughter bought her for me the day I left the breast unit with tears streaming down my face having just being diagnosed with cancer. She was to be my mascot. She went into hospital with me and waited on my bed whilst I had surgery. She remained on my bed when I returned home and the district nurses came for two weeks to change the dressing. When I had to have fluid drained she again went with me to the hospital and then every day for 30 days of radiotherapy.
Since then she has been to every mammogram and every appointment with my oncologist and my surgeon.
I was at the breast unit this morning. It will be six years in March - six years of uncertainty and worry it would return. Today was my last visit, I got the all clear and have officially been signed off. Honey was there with me as always. She is one special bear and I will keep her always.
