Stage Three

Photobucket

Work is progressing apace now despite the endless rain. Today, for a change, we have blue skies and sunshine but it is bitterly cold. It cannot last - the weekend forecast is yet more rain. Him indoors had planted so many bulbs a few weeks back but now we will be lucky if we see a bloom next Spring. In all probability they will just rot in the ground.

I have some more photos for you of how things are progressing. Firstly, removing the old and very steep step to the garden and the new much better one they have built.

The next photo shows all the framework erected

Next, the glass has been fitted into the roof

So, all the glass has been fitted now. At the moment they are working on the electrics for the lights in the roof and also three sockets so we can run the fish filter from inside as we always have and whatever else we like. The guttering also has to be finished and the making good at the front base of the conservatory. After that, because we gained a few inches (the old sun room did not go to the edge of the base), the floor needs to be evened up so that Mike can lay the floor covering.

We are more than delighted with it all so far. Here are a couple more pictures for you. I will add more when all work is totally done, the floor laid and the furniture back.

Lastly, here is D. He is the son of the Father and son team doing the work. You can see that he is well wrapped up against the cold!

We just cannot recommend them highly enough and we hope they get more work when people see what they have been doing here. They are also replacing all the fascia, guttering and drainpipes around the entire property.

Well, tomorrow is our special day again. Tomorrow, Saturday 5th December, it will be 39 years since I walked down the aisle on the arm of my dear Dad and took Mike as my husband. I could not have made a better choice, he is not only my husband but my friend and my rock. He does so very much for me. We have put a few Christmas decorations up as we always do to celebrate "our" day. Not as many as usual because of the work being done. We also find it harder each year to put up the amount of decorations that we used to. But we do have lights around our fireplace, our mirror, the small Christmas tree on the mantlepiece and lights in the front window. We are not putting all the fake snow around that we used to. When the conservatory is finished, we are going to put icicle lights around it and a small fibre optic tree.

Getting back to tomorrow, I simply do not know where all those years have gone, they have literally flown so very fast. Next year will be our ruby anniversary, God willing. Anyway, we will be seeing the family, Mike and I will exchange gifts and cards and then I think we will just have a quiet day. After all the noise this week, we shall certainly need it.

I would just like to say on here, Mike darling, I love you as much today as I did on the day I became your wife. Thank you sweetheart for 39 wonderful years and my hopes for many many more years together.

Until the next time, dear friends and readers.
