That Song

Mike has asked me to thank you for the happy Birthday wishes he received yesterday. He had a nice day although it was very quiet. He also told me to tell you that they warmed his heart.

On my posting before last, I added a video of our Christmas decorations and I used a certain song on it - December 25th.

I was surprised when a couple of people told me that they had never heard this song before. It is from the film version of "Scrooge" starring Albert Finney. One of my all time Christmas favourites. I always watch two versions at Christmas, the 1940's one starring Alastair Simm who has to be the best Ebenezer Scrooge of all time and this musical adaptation.

The film was not well received when it was first released. I think many critics thought Albert Finney was too young for the part and the "ghosts" had been changed somewhat. However, it is now becoming something of a Christmas classic. Christmas, for us, would not be Christmas without seeing this movie. That song "Thank You Very Much" also comes from this film version.

I have found a clip on YouTube - the clip showing the sequence "December 25th" where Mr. Fezziwig gives a party and dance for his staff. I hope you will enjoy viewing it, even thought the quality could be better.

The version of the song I used was taken from the London stage production. It is such a jolly and happy song.

Enjoy.

Good news. Morton is home from hospital and done a posting on his journal. He had a very close shave indeed. Please call by and give him your support.

  3. Happy belated birthday to Mike!

I've heard the song in the movie before. But, it's not a song that is commonly played when the local radio stations start Christmas music.
