Another chilly day here. There was bright sunshine to start with but that did not last long. The weather is supposed to turn bitter over the weekend with snow predicted for many regions. I will be surprised if we get any here. What usually happens is that it snows all around us but misses us. It would be wonderful if, this time it did not. and Nathan and Daniel could build a snowman. They would be so excited.
Yesterday I decided to tackle some more cleaning and clearing out, two wardrobes (closets) and some drawers under the bed. It is one of those jobs that once you have started, you wish you had not. Anyway, whilst I was in the middle of it, Becky arrived unexpectedly. It was a nice surprise. Both boys were at school all day, Nathan at proper school, Daniel at pre-school. It is a very long time since Becky and I had time together on our own, so to speak. We got a fit of giggles over something very silly and trivial and then could not stop. We only had to look at each other for it to start all over again.
I have a large bag of unwanted clothes that will be going to the charity shop and, no doubt, do somebody a good turn. After I have finished this entry, I need to go and sort out the odds and ends I left lying around yesterday, then it will all be finished. The trouble is that, when doing a job like that, you have nothing on the surface to show for it. But it does give a sense of achievement and I also gained more space.

It has taken me so long to do this entry. I normally use Photobucket for storing and uploading my pictures. Today, when I went there, all the codes had disappeared from under my pictures. A drop-down box does appear if you click on the picture, but whenever I try to copy a code, the box just disappears. So, I have had to add them using the Blogger system. As you probably know, all pictures added through Blogger appear at the top of the posting. You have no choice except left, centre, right and size. They all go to the top. So I have spent ages dragging them around, only to lose some and have to start again!
Is anyone else having trouble with Photobucket? Does anyone know of any other sites where you can upload photos, graphics etc. preferably a free site? I would be grateful for any help.
Anyway, because of all the hassle, I am running so late and I really do need to get cracking. Oh, cannot add a signature either because of Photobucket.
I have sent them an e-mail telling them what the problem is, but Lord knows when they will reply if they do. I am hoping it is just a glitch on the site but they could have changed the system. If they have I cannot work it out. Anyway, I cannot use it as it is.
Now, for some lunch and then back to the grind. Will try and catch up with all your journals later.
P.S. Since writing the above, the Photobucket problems have been sorted. They have changed the system. No codes now appear under pictures automatically unless you run your mouse over the picture and a drop down box appears and you can copy the code from that. However, this did not work for me, the box just simply disppeared each time I tried. So I eventually discovered that I needed to go into edit under that drop down box and click that I always wanted the codes under the pictures. Then I pressed save, and lo and behold, the codes were all back where they used to be.
I was noticing how many people have signed your guestbook. How nice to have all those wonderful people leave a message. I love to spend time with my daughter too. We are so blessed to have them. I cleared out two bags from my closet when switching over to my winter clothing. I still need to do more but little by little is my motto. I'll do the same when I put winter away and bring out the lighter weight clothing. We are promised snow today and tomorrow. I know the children do love it but not me...I dislike driving in it. Hope your day is a great one. 'On Ya'-ma
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are fabulous my friend. I've not added anything as I'm not on my PC, but hoping to be home this weekend. I do hope they have things sorted by then. I'm itching to get some pictures up. LOL
ReplyDeletelove ya
Beautful pictures as usual, Jeanette. I used Photobucket last night and it was ok. Can you uploaed your pictures directly from your camera to Photobucket?? I have to put mine in "Kodak Easyshare" then in "My Pictures" and on to Photobucket. I'd love to eliminate a step or two. Going through Blogger is a hit and miss for me and really a pain. Have a great day :)..........
ReplyDeleteARGH my comment just disappeared into the ether!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say thanks for your comment on my blog (Glasgow Daily Photo) - very much appreciated!
I use flickr for my photos (http://www.flickr.com) and like it. Rather than use the "blog this" option, if you go to "all sizes" (the options appear at the top of photos) then you can choose the size and it gives you all the code.
Good to hear from you! Gorgeous photos! It really makes me want to hop on a plane and visit! I've been so busy I haven't made it around to visit many blogs.
ReplyDeleteHi Jeannette, Nice that you spent some quality time with your daughter. That is so precious! I'd love to have my mummy near me. Unfortunately we have to put up with long chats over the phone! But she's coming soon, in exactly 4 weeks! Can't wait...Love your photos, especially the one with ducks and geese! I upload my photos directly from my computer, but a lot of people in the Daily Photo group use Flickr.com. Take care, Ciao. Antonella

ReplyDeleteThose pictures do give a sense of peace and tranquility. I love the one with the water and the bridge. Here, it snows all around us, leaving us with nothing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy
Great pictures. I like the third one with the weeping willow. Reminds me of my childhood when we lived in Connecticut.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Joyce
You live in a lovely area Jeannette, it`s so scenic. The photos are great, no wonder Mike likes waling the dogs there, it looks so peaceful. LOL at you and Becky, I know that feeling when you know the slighhtest thing will start you laughing again! I hope clearing out drawers and wardrobes and I know I should start on mine. Hi, Jeannette! That's odd, Photobucket has always worked splendidly for me. I know there are definitely other sites, though, if . I have seen them. There must be something you can google to find another program to use instead of Photobook. Let me think for a moment. Google "free image hosts", I think, as that is what Photobucket is. Okay, I just googled it, here's the link:

I hope that works. If not, just put "free image hosts" in your google browser, w/o the quotes, and see what comes up, that is what I did...
Jeannette, there are some awesome image hosting systems out there! And totally free! And not only, on some of them, can you store your photos on them, but you can EDIT on them! Wow. I haven't checked them out closely, but I bet this would work for some people who had a digicam but did not have an editing program. That is actually possible... Although if you have windows you probably would have a Windows Gallery. But until I got an upgrade on that thing, it didn't have much of an editing function. Not much of one. I didn't see where you could crop. I was horrified! Now I have a cropper (I think), but not much else. So I noticed a lot of these Image Hosts (even free ones!) allow you to edit right there on their system! Really edit! Why am I telling you all this? Because you need to choose which system you want very carefully... Decide which features you want. :) Sorry I am being so verbose, Jeannette.
Oh, look what I found listed in Google! A link to a webpage that rates the best "free image hosts". Here are the "15 best free image hosts" listed from best to worst!:
http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-image-hosting.php
http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-image-hosting.php?page=2
I hope that helps. And one final thing, Love. Look at the top of the first page! It says "Free Video Hosting" If you need that, it's there too! Okay, must run!

So nice that you and Becky had a girl's day!
ReplyDeleteI've been having trouble with photobucket too... I fixed the links again to stay under the picture but now I can't find what I clicked on to let you know... there were two choices to have them there always or just when you slide the mouse... my problem however is the links are bad and won't load into blogger... I did like the changes photobucket had made however it was nice before when it worked, lol....

I do alright with cleaning out the wardrobes and such.....it's the getting it to the charity shop that the thing for me.
ReplyDeleteVery noble, clearing out! Rather like wearing clean underwear in case you have an accident. I always worry about the person who would have to clear my junk, should I suddenly drop off the perch!
ReplyDeleteLoved the photographs. You put me to shame getting all tidied up before Christmas, I really must make a start. How lovely to have had that special laughing time with Becky, it is times like that that you remember. By the way, love the photo of "little me". ~Eileen x
ReplyDeleteI discovered the new thing with photobucket yesterday myself. It is rather chilly here as well, but no snow so far. I've been sorting and cleaning and organizing, too, and it seems this is something that's going around, because I've read several bloggers talking about it. Hope you're having a very good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful entry!
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing about all of the things you are doing! I hate very cold weather too so we have that in common! I admire the social work you are doing!
I know you will think I'm silly but I will think about you this Thanksgiving! and have a great week!
love,natalie
ps. I adore your pictures of the grandkids on the side! how great!
ReplyDeletelove,natalie
I just saw these 'professional' photos, so lovely. I hope you get all the problems posting them sorted out. Thanks for persisting to get these in your blog. Gerry
