Spring Photos And Other Things

What a glorious few days we have been having weatherwise. The breeze remained a little too chill to actually sit outside until today. I have spent some time just sitting, looking and enjoying until I got too hot and had to come back inside.

The cloud of volcanic ash which has grounded all aircraft in and out of the UK and Europe for several days has certainly not made its presence felt around here yet, not in the way of any pollution that is, but what bliss it has been. Living as we do, very close to an Airport, although not a major one, we have come to take the background noise for granted. However, this last few days there has been nothing except the song of the birds and it has been heavenly. It must be wonderful for those who live on major flight paths in London and other major cities. Yes, people have to travel, but after experiencing the last few days I cannot help but believe that the world would be a better place without aircraft, lack of noise, lack of pollution, fewer diseases being brought in and more difficult for terrorists.

Maybe I was born in the wrong century but I like it without aircraft.

We have been busy helping my brother clear out lots of things, Mike has made endless journeys down to the local tip. My brother is now getting the care he needs, nurses going in, someone to help with the housework and the shopping. It will start to take the pressure off Mike. We seem to have had nothing but stress since Christmas.

The trees are, at last springing into new leaf after Spring has been so delayed this year. We have Bluetits nesting in one of our boxes and the evenings are lighter. I think we all feel better for that.

Now, I have some photos to share with you, taken in our garden. I hope that you enjoy them.

I am now into collecting fairies. I have not collected things in a long while. I have four so far, two are pewter and two are resin but very pretty they are. I shall put pictures on for you next time.

Well, I am going to make a cup of tea now. Then I always listen to the radio at 2 p.m. on Sundays - Gardener's Question Time. I cannot do as much as I used to in my garden but I do love to hear the questions people ask and the hints and tips given. Then I shall probably venture out into the sun again for a little while as they say the weather is going to change this week.

So until next time, dear friends and readers, love to you all.

  2. Lovely to hear from you again and your flowers are beautiful, obviously some loving care has gone into them. We live close to Manchester, though not directly in the flightpath but it is wonderful to be able to sit in the garden in this lovely sunshine and just hear the bird song. It is so peaceful. Glad to hear that your brother is doing well and getting that much needed help to relieve both you and Mike. Take care. love Eileen x

  3. It would be wonderful to have some of that sunshine and warmth here today. It was almost down to freezing over night and has warmed up about 10 degrees now. If the sunshine makes an appearance as they say it will later, it won't be bad out at all. So far i've made it to church and back and DS#1 had breakfast waiting for me when I returned. It seems I usually wind up going by myself on camping weekends as they all prefer to sleep in and relax on Sunday mornings. I know they all work hard and need the extra rest on the weekends.

I do enjoy the peace and quiet of the campground here. It is away from the busyness of life and is so relaxing. Like you I often feel I was born at the wrong time as I prefer the simpler and quieter pace of life.

It's good to hear that your brother is getting the needed help and that Mike is not so burdened with it all. Enjoy your gardening program and your garden today.

  7. Hello Dear Jeannette, Well my computer crashed last week so I have been going through "withdrawal"...but finally got it fixed...was pleased it was not to much as we debated about buying another one here in the USA. Our youngest girl bought an APPLE and thinks it is fabulous.
I loved your pictures....and your Jack is such a nice pooch.
We will be leaving Tucson at the end of the month and head over to Tampa to take our Malt Shop Memory Cruise.
I ready to head home to Canada now but have paid for this cruise so we will drive across country and see lots of interesting things.
Thinking of you and Mike with much love.

    Blessings

ALBERTA Lori (getting rather brown, here in Tucson, AZ. it is starting to get WAY to hot for me though)

  9. Hi Jeannette, don't you just love Spring? Your pictures are lovely and when I walk around in my yard, I see all the same flowers. My daffodils are about done however. I need to get out there & cut off the dead heads. My tulips are still pretty & of course the other flowers are begining to burst forth as well. I'm so glad to hear that your brother is getting the help he needs, it's so nice of Mike to be there for him, but I'm sure you & Mike have enough to do at your place. Take care & enjoy your "noise free" garden as long as you can. Linda in Washington state

  10. The spring blossoms look lovely, such a shame it doesn't last longer as it is so pretty. I did see a couple of small planes fly overhead yesterday, but on the news this morning they are saying that the airspace is still closed until tonight. Enjoy the peace while it lasts! Love B x

  15. Hello Jeannette,

I have to agree that its lovely without the noise of aircraft, just birdsong like you say...bliss indeed! The problem being that Jim works at Heathrow and at the moment he has nothing to do and is being sent home early everyday. It seems flights will resume tomorrow evening and his work will begin again in earnest. Your garden looks lovely and I`ve always said that Spring provides us with the very best flowers of all. Just look at Jack enjoying the sun, hopefully we`ll be getting more of it as the Summer progresses. :o)

    Love and Hugs

  21. Your flowers are beautiful Jeannette, I always love to see the flowers and trees blossoming; especially after such a hard winter. I agree it was nice when the planes were grounded, just clear blue skies without the white exhaust streaks but being a travelholic I wouldn't like them permanently grounded! Jeannette xx

  22. So sorry I haven't been around for a while. Love the pictures of the garden tree's and plants and Jack too. I don't like the sound of aircraft either. Besides ever since 9/11 hearing a plane kind of scares me. I'm glad your brother is getting the help he needs. I just got out of the hospital monday. My blood got so thick my hands and arms turned blue, pulse was very low. They admitted me right away and started me on 2 different blood thinners, Heprin and Coumadin. I was there for a week. Anyways glad things are good for you and Mike, and God Bless.
