Quick Entry

Well, I have never seen rain like it this morning. We set off for the breast unit at 8.30 a.m. It was coming down so hard the windscreen wipers could barely cope. The bottom of our Lane was completely flooded and we sent up huge sprays on either side going through it. We hit all the red lights, everyone had their lights on due to the poor visibility. The traffic was awful and we were stuck in one queue for quite a long time. So, I was late for my 9 a.m. appointment. I was amazed that I coped with it as I usually panic and feel trapped when we get stuck. I am sure all your good wishes helped.

When we got there, the waiting room was empty. Only two receptionists were at the desk and none of the doctors were there because they had problems getting in as well.

After a fifteen minute wait a doctor did arrive but it was not my surgeon, Caspar. No, apparently he was operating until 1 a.m. so his place was taken by a lovely man called Mr. Rateme, whom I had never seen. He was absolutely lovely, friendly and interested. He gave me a thorough examination.

I am happy to say that he could find no abnormalities whatsoever and was very pleased. He gave me a little hug. I do not have to go back to that part of the unit until next November. I have my next mammogram in May and already hoping all will go well.

On leaving, Becky and I had to wait whilst Mike went and retrived the car (you can never park anywhere near the place). Whilst I was sitting in the doorway, I heard Becky say "Where have you been, Mum missed not seeing you today." Yes, it was Caspar, my own surgeon. He was very pleased to see me and delighted that all appears well. We had a little laugh and joke together before we left for home.

Becky spent the rest of the day with us, we had lunch together and watched the workmen going about their tasks. They could not do much in the terrible rain earlier but they have managed to start getting the glass roof in. It is forecast dry for tomorrow and they are hoping to finish that part. Becky and I also watched the film "Marley and Me". I had seen it before but she had not. I had also read the book. A lovely film with lots of laughs but both of us were in tears at the end, even though I knew the outcome.

Well, that is all my news. I feel quite tired now. I did not sleep well last night as I knew I had the appointment so I am going to shut my eyes for an hour before it is time for the evening meal.

Have a good week, dear friends and readers.

  2. Glad your appointment went well, if a little late, and glad you got to see Caspar as you left. I remember how fond you were of him and how well he treated you. Looks like the workmen are making great progress. It'll be lovely when it is all finished.

  9. Hi Jeannette
So pleased to hear your good news. I am not surprised that you felt tired after the day you had. Up here, the weather has been dry and sunny but exceptionally cold. The windscreen was frozen this morning. Take care. Eileen x

  10. Thank the dear Lord for answered prayers. I'm very happy to hear your good news today. Glad you had a safe trip there and back too in all that rain. Our weather here has been a little rainy today but not bad at all. This year our part of the US has had very few storms of any kind. I'm wondering now what winter will bring as we usually get a lot of snow.

  22. Hi Jeannette, So sorry I`m late reading this. I`m so pleased everything went well for you and that you managed to see Caspar in the end. Wasn`t the weather dreadful on Monday? It took me nearly an hour to do what should have been a 15 min journey to work...sigh. I haven`t seen the film of Marley and Me though I read the book, I think I`ll have to give it a miss for a while.

    Love and Hugs
