Thank You, Patrick

It was with great sadness that I read of the passsing of Patrick Swayze. Although his demise was to be expected as he had been desperately ill for a long time with pancreatic cancer, it still upset me to see the headline on aol. this morning. 57 is no great age these days.

He gave pleasure to millions of people through his films and his t.v. work. I suppose he will best be remembered for "Dirty Dancing" and he was, without any doubt, a wonderful dancer. I remember the first time I saw the film and I loved it. Also "Ghost" was an extremely popular movie.

Personally though I enjoyed him the most in "North And South" an American t.v. series which told the story of two families, the Hazards and the Mains, during the American Civil War and how they struggled to maintain their friendship against all odds.

Patrick was, from what I have read, a very nice man, an accomplished rider and lover of horses and animals and absolutely devoted to his wife, Lisa. My thoughts are with her today.

Rest in peace, Patrick and thank you for all the wonderful moments.

  1. My thoughts go out to Patrick's family today. I know he and his wife had a strong marriage. I must have watched Dirty Dancing 50 times through the years. I will miss him. Rest in peace, Patrick... Hugs, Jeannette. Love, Val xox

  3. Even though his battle with his illness was well publicised, it is still very sad to hear that he has lost his fight. Ghost and Dirty Dancing are among my favourite films and it will be strange the next time I see one of them to know he is no longer alive. Rest in peace Patrick. B x

  8. Nice tribute. My prayers are with his family. Ken had a cousin who was in her early 50's that died with the same thing about a month ago. She left behind a sister and a son. Helen

  9. I feel the same as you Jeannette, I always liked Patrick Swayze and really loved North and South and would like to watch it again some time. He was the same age as me and should have had many more years left with his beloved wife Lisa.

    Love Sandra xxxx

  11. May Patrick be at peace. I always got a laugh and smile on my face as my Sis Elaine who was killed along with her teen son Kenny, by a drunk driving doctor would always say "Oh Patrick Swayze always makes me horny when I see him in Dirty Dancing" so whenver I would see him would think of my Sis and what she said. Was and will always be another special memory of Sis. He touched a lot of our hearts and it was sad to see him pass.

  19. Dear Jeannette,
I too was sorry to hear about Patrick..and admired his valiant fight.
As I was cleaning the other day I threw out a taped TV version of North and South and thought it will be no problem to purchase but upon my application was told no available to Canada...so maybe I will have it sent to a friend in the USA.

    Blessings,

    ALBERTA Lori
