Little Big Man

Photobucket

Today Daniel started his life at school. A day of mixed feelings. Pride at him in his school uniform, sad that the time has gone so quickly and our babies are not babies any more. They grow up so quickly.

He was very eager to go, which is good. He knows his teacher already because she was Nathan's teacher last year and Daniel met her on many occasions when they picked Nathan up from school. So he has a plus that Nathan never had.

This first week, Daniel will only do mornings but next week he will start full time so, for the first time in years, both boys will be out all day. I have not spoken to Becky yet today but I imagine she is a little emotional. From a house full of noise, there will now be days of silence. However, she says it will give her a chance to catch up on many jobs that need doing and could never be done because the boys were always into everything. Also she will have to do the school run in the mornings and afternoons, plus their swimming trips and anything else the boys get involved in over the next few years.

Anyway, here are a couple of photos taken on little man's day:-

Next week when Daniel begins full time, the boys will be able to eat lunch together and met up at breaktimes. That will be nice for both of them.

Still no rain here. I am hoping we do get some this week although hopefully, not on Wednesday as that is the day I shall be another year older and the family will be over late afternoon. Mike has been very mysterious about my present, so I cannot wait to find out what it will be.
This year my birthday falls on 09/09/09. I am so hoping that is a lucky omen. I read that many couples are getting married on Wednesday because of the special date.

I hope to get some photographs then, we shall see. If we do, I might well do a post in the evening when the family have gone.

I find it sad that there seem to be less and less postings these days, more and more people seem to be dropping away. I know some are on holiday but others have just stopped completely. It is certainly no J-Land and I, for one, have not noticed the community spirit we had then. Well, nothing lasts for ever and I think J-Land spoiled us for anything else.

Well, I suppose I had better go and get some housework done. I cannot imagine housework fairies and pixies suddenly appearing to do it for me.

Have a good week everyone and God bless.

  3. Those uniforms sure look nice. Sometimes I wish kids had to wear them here. In some schools down south and in private schools they do. My niece has to wear a uniform. The girls in the schools up here, especially the high school dress so inappropriately. There bottoms are nearly hanging out of some of the shorts and skirts they wear and their cleavage showing. Hard to believe the mothers let them go like that but most of the mothers dress the same way! Not me that is for sure!

  4. Look how handsome they are!! I remember when they were wee tiny, Jeannette... awww... Good luck to them this year!! Boy, we have been getting alot of rain in my neck of the woods. I wish I could give you some of ours. I agree, J-Land spoiled us. I often look back on those days and remember them fondly. I miss them. I am still a bit miffed at AOL. I see them as "burning down" a community, if you will. We were real people. Oh well, I won't get into that anymore. You take good care, my dear... Love, Val xox

  11. The boys look so handsome in their uniforms. Most schools around here have dress codes the students have to abide by but the only schools I know that have uniforms are private schools. I hope you have a great Birthday on Wednesday and enjoy the gathering later in the day. Helen

  16. Here's to great success for Daniel as he begins his formal education. I wish I could go back and do it all over.

Google Blogspot Land is a lot different from JLand but it just takes some getting use to I think.

Yes 9 is a lucky number. Happy birthday on Wednesday.

  17. Your grandsons are a pair of handsome little fellows for sure. I like how smart they look in their uniforms and even have school bags to match. Our public schools here are not in uniform but when my children went to our church school for the first 8 years they were in uniform and I loved it. It saved lots of hassels on what to wear each day and it save dollars on the clothes budget too. I do hope your grandson's have a good school year and learn alot while enjoying it too.

  19. Hi Jeannette !!!!!!!

The boys look so grown up in their uniforms. I am sure they will enjoy school and I hope that they are excited about it as I was at that age.

I want to wish you an early "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" and many many many many many more. I do try to post in my journal/blog as much as I can but I hope that others will try to come back to journal more. I miss a lot of people. I enjoy having you and others that are still around. Not many people come to visit me as they do yours. I don't get a lot of visitors but I love the people that come to visit me. Its nice to see people who will come and leave a comment or two. I miss AOL Journal Land its sad that we had to lose it. I hope you had a nice weekend and I hope you continue to blog because I would definitely miss having you around.

    Do take care

  20. Oh Jeanette I so enjoyed the photos of your grandsons. Just look how adorable they are. Yes, I too have noticed since my children are in school now I can get to a few more things but I am doing a lot more running and I work part time from home also for my job which keeps me on the phone you know a lot so it's still a big juggling act but at least I'm here for my children and that is the extra special part. Those grandsons of yours are so cute and brings back memories of when my teenager was just a nice little boy about their age. He started high school this year and wow they grow so fast!! I used to dress mine in matching outfits a lot too. Such nice memories!! Yes, people dropping off like flies. I went on a mission to find out why. Everyone is at FACEBOOK!!! That sucked me in and is addicting because of short one line posts and all those games.

  21. PSS But I'm not planning to stay over there at Facebook other than a few times per week. I still like blogging best. But it was nice to find out where everybody went. All the bloggers from AOL J land are there. It's weird. But it's also fun. But blogging is still my favorite. I like the games over there though and the interaction with friends in the games. But it's kind of like socialistic agenda on Facebook so it's kinda weird all the same.

I to, like others wish more schools in N. America had uniforms.
It just seems like yesterday that my kids started school. The time just slips by so quickly.

  24. The boys look so handsome in their school uniforms. I imagine Becky will feel very strange at first with a quiet house. I don't think we'll ever have the spirit of JLand but we can make the best of what we've got. Perhaps after summer it will pick up again ~ I know how busy I am during the summer so I'm sure others are as well.
