They Got It Wrong + Photos

Photobucket

The Met Office has finally admitted that they got the weather prediction for this summer totally wrong. Surprise, surprise, as if we had not already guessed that. They were wrong last year and also the year before.

One has to wonder about global warming. If they cannot get the prediction correct for the current year, then how can they forecast ten years ahead, fifty years ahead, one hundred years ahead?

It has rained almost every day this July and there has not been one day when it has been possible to actually sit in the garden. All the hard work we had put into the garden has only been viewed through the windows. Him indoors did manage to hard prune a couple of our trees in between downpours. We can only hope that we do get a few warm sunny days before summer finally bows out.

Becky and family enjoyed their holiday. Dean has a very demanding job and works long hours so at least it gave them all a chance to be together and they made the best of it despite Mother Nature having other ideas on what the weather should be.

Becky sent through a few photos which I am going to share with you today. The first three were
taken when they did a day trip on the Norfolk Broads.

For our American friends who would not understand the Norfolk Broads, here is a brief description. The Norfolk Broads is now the UK’s largest nationally protected wetland and an important area for wildlife. The Broads were formed when people dug for peat in Medieval times and then they were later flooded. The Victorians used them for transporting heavy loads but nowadays they are used purely for pleasure and passengers are the boats’ main cargo.

The next two photos were taken on the beach at Great Yarmouth. It was obviously not the weather to go swimming!

The remaining photos are of the two boys just having fun. This is the first time they have gone on rides without their parents being with them.

I am sorry that some of you would have had an alert from me yesterday under dashboard or google reader, then gone there to find the entry had been deleted. I had a lot of problems with the posting yesterday. I have had problems uploading photos today which is why I have not added all of them. There were only a couple more of the boys on the rides.

Well, I think that is all for now. I have some jobs to do and need to sort out returns to go to the library before I play my daily dose of Trivial Pursuit and wrestle with the online crossword.

I hope you have all been having a good week, my dear friends and readers.

  1. I'm glad that Becky and Dean got a nice holiday. I think the boat that says Broads tours is funny. Over here a "Broad" is a big boisterous woman. I can see the boat going around looking for Broads. LOL! The pictures are fantastic. Those boys sure are getting big getting to go on rides alone now!

  3. We are not quite as bad off as you as it has not rained everyday but many of them have been wet and unusually cool too. This week has been better but there is a chance of rain every other day. We don't get alot of rain at a time but it is humid and damp out. No global warming here in our part of the US but others in the south and west have had it very hot. The boys are so cute riding those rides. I bet they had a grand time of it. Summer isn't really over until til Sept 22nd so I'm hoping some beautiful sunny days come your way.

  5. I see your weather predictions are no better than ours. Our forecasters are usually wrong for the day let alone a season! I'm happy the family made the most out of their vacation even with the dreary weather. The boys look like they are having a blast. The Broads sounds like a great place, loved the swans.

  6. I always enjoy your pictures, hon. Heavens, I think we have only seen two dry days in four months or so in my neck of the woods. I wonder if it is raining everywhere. You have a good day, sweets... Love, Val xox

  14. Hi Jeannette,

What a Summer Indeed! How can they get it so wrong so many times before they admit they have no idea what they are doing. As for global warming, I`ve always been sceptical about it and after reading much about quite a bit about the subject I`ve come to the conclusion that its all a big con. How can they possibly be able to predict so far into the future when they have no idea about tomorrow. I totally agree with you there. I`m glad the boys had a lovely holiday, they certainly seem to be having lots of fun. I think the weather isn`t a problem for small children who seem to be happy just to go on holiday with Mum and Dad. I went to the Broads for a week when I was just 20 and it was a magical time. The boat we lived on left much to be desired though, I`d want something more comfortable these days! :o)

    Love and Hugs

  15. Looks like they all had a great time Jeannette. It's a pity we cannot have our weathermen predict correctly.I am sick of the rain in my part of the country, but I did get a few days last week at the holiday home on the East Coast that was good.Lets hope next week I get a few days the same as we are going to Norfolk too.The rides the children were on brought back many happy memories for me when my four children were small and we used to take them to Great Yarmouth.Lovely pictures thankyou for sharing.Take Care God Bless Kath xx

  18. It is so wonderful to see the boys enjoy themselves. They don't worry about the rain do they...I just heard today that it has been the wettest July on record in Bristol so expect it has been the same here it seems that way anyway. Thank you so much for sharing the photo's with us.
Lets hope for a nice weekend,
    Much Love Sybil xx

  19. Solely on the topic of the summer forecast, Jeannette: they cannot make accurate forecasts beyond 5 days ahead. And even that they get wrong more often than not.
