Brrrrrr + Photos

Photobucket

Above are the beautiful roses I received from Mike for Mother's Day, what a stunning colour.

On Saturday it was so warm and sunny that I was able to take myself out into the garden and sit, unusual for March. It was great just to feel the sun and listen to the birds. Him indoors busied himself in taking a dead tree down. I hate to see them go but it had turned brown and looked awful. We shall not put another in its place, just encourage the climbing roses along the top of the fence.

The Lavender plants arrived last week and they are now safely planted so the front garden does not look bare now. I am looking forward to seeing them bloom in the summer.

Becky came over for Mother's Day with flowers, a balloon and cards. Alas, the boys could not visit as they have both been away from school with illness. Becky did not want to risk them passing anything on to me. Once again it was a beautiful day and Becky and I sat outside and chatted and drank tea.

I am sharing another couple of photos with you. The first one is myself holding Mike's flowers and in the second I am shown with Becky's flowers and balloon:-

The new tree I ordered for the front garden will be arriving on Thursday afternoon. It might well have to stay in its container in a sheltered spot for the time being as a report in the newspaper this morning said that winter is returning and the weekend is going to be bitter with possible snow. I am even more glad now that I spent two days outside.

The wind is very cold today and the sky is darkening all the time, it could be we will get some more rain. It came down so hard yesterday afternoon but at least it watered in the new plants.

I have let most of you know that I shall not be changing my internet provider after all. Oh, the hassle I have had cancelling, it is still not sorted and believe me, the rudeness I have encountered since I told them we had changed our minds has made me so glad we decided not to go with them.

I have spent nearly all morning on the phone to them and British Telecom trying to get things sorted out.

Well, my beloved will be back from Tesco shortly and I know he would like a nice cup of tea waiting for him so I am off to get that done.

Wishing each and every one of you a good week.

  2. I'm glad you had great weather for your special day. I'm like you and will sit out in the sun whenever I get the chance. March days are always like that..spring one moment winter the next. I put the layers on and then take them off. I hope you get all those internet woes taken care of and be done with them. Customer service can be so aggrivating. 'On Ya'-ma

  10. Seems like you all go through what we go through with the weather...teases us a bit and then turns sharply cold and grey. Right now here in Tennessee, USA we have a sunny day, light thin clouds. It's 73.2. Wow. WHY AM I HERE on the PC. lol

  11. Hi Jeannette, What lovely flowers. I also got flowers for Mother`s day and they take pride of place on the sideboard. The wind is very cool here but luckily the sun has been warm so its not too bad at the moment. It is however, forecast to rain this evening so we`ll just have to wait and see what happens. I`ve been doing a lot of gardening myself since the weather has been so good so I hope it only rains at night! :o)

    Love and Hugs

  12. Happy Mother's Day! Your roses are stunning. I'm glad the day was pleasant and that you were able to spend time outside the last couple of days. Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I'd always thought spin the bottle was a more grown-up/prohibited game as well, but learned something new that day. Blessings, Penny

  15. Sounds like you had one special Mothers Day your way. The flowers are beautiful from Hubby and Becky and family.Loved the orange roses, would fit in with my color decoy if you'd like to send them my way. Hang in there, don't let those internet folks get to you, they drive us all nuts when we have to contact them about something....I've learned what real patience and angry control is all about when dealing with them. Have a great day your way.

  16. How lovely your roses are. I do hope they last for a wee while, they are such a bright colour. Yes it has been a lovely week here in Wiltshire as well. Mary and I have been taking the chance to get out and about we went up to Marlborough on Tuesday last and it so lovely to be out without big thick jackets on. Even if the cold days do come again they won't last so long now that spring has really arrived.
    Look after yourself.
    Much Love Sybil xx

  17. Lovely flowers Jeannette ! That's two bad that the boys are sick & couldn't visit with you on Mother's Day. Hope they are back to 100% soon. I've been checking out my lavender plants. I was brutal when I pruned them last fall so I hope they come back. Meanwhile, once it warms up I'm going to spread some California poppy seeds in the lavender bed just incase I've murdered them. Have a good week. Linda in Washington

  18. Two exquisite bouquets, different from one another. Your yard sounds as though it will be lovely. I can't quite place what lavender looks like in my mind, but I must take my camera out to photograph some bougainvillea the next few days which is blooming now in Phoenix in all its glory everywhere. This is our most ubiquitous flower. My Grandma King was the only Mormon I knew who had to have her spot of tea. Nobody will let me drink tea. Doc prefers coffee and makes it for me, so I can't change my morning drink!

  31. Happy Mother's Day to you... what a wonderful joy to be a mother... I love the roses and the color... your spring planting activity is very inspiring to me. We have put a few things in our veggie garden and then rain came on and off the past few days and has been hard to get back to the garden. Have a nice cup of tea... if you were here I would put on a tea kettle and make you a nice hot cup of tea. Much hugs,
