White Monday

Photobucket

The snow started yesterday, not much of it but it continued overnight and it has been snowing quite heavily all day.

Of course, being the U.K. everything comes to a standstill even though it was forecast. Airports have been closed, chaos on the roads and on the railways. It seems that we are never prepared. Quite a few mild winters have made us complacent. There was not one bus running in London this morning.

Nathan's school is closed, along with countless others, but the boys were very excited and have been or will be, building a snowman.

Jesse and Jack accept it and love it whilst Leo has just been sitting at the window all the time trying to catch the snowflakes.

We watched "Dancing On Ice" against last night and this time Todd Carty did not skate completely off the ice, nor fall over, but his routine was extremely poor. His popularity with the public got him voted through again and it is unfair now that skaters with potential are being knocked out of the competition, whilst he remains. There is another skater who should have gone as well, but it is the public vote that counts.

I was shocked to read that the American woman who gave birth to the eight babies already has six children, is not married and lives with her parents. All her children were apparently conceived by fertility treatment. I do not understand how this could have been allowed. She now has fourteen children all under eight. There was also a mention that she has mental problems. I hope there is an investigation and heads roll over it. I find it pretty disgraceful.

I was also shocked to read this morning that a nurse could face disciplinary action or even lose her job for praying with a patient!! It seems now that Christians are becoming a persecuted minority in our country. What is the world coming to?

I am continuing with my exercise although sometimes it is hard to get motivated. I have noticed that I have lost a chin (ha ha) so maybe it is doing some good. It will certainly help me to be more fit.

Well, that is about all for now. If it is snowing and cold where you are, wrap up well and keep warm.

Have a good week, dear friends and readers.

  1. beautiful pics, stay warm.
congrats on losing "a chin", would like to lose a couple myself. :)
we are all in disgust at anyone, or a dr that could allow this 33 yo woman with 6 kids, no husband, no job...to be allowed to become preg with 8 babies! the dr should have put her in counseling & got her some psychiatric care instead. now she has 14 children, all under 7 yo. she has done this before. my worry is for those little ones. i wonder how she paid for it all? she lives in her parents 2 bdrm house, & is a student.
    have a good week.
    huggies...

  2. Your snow pictures are beautiful. Sounds as if the girl who had all those babies that maybe all her family has mental problems to allow this to happen. Her doc should be sent to jail for doing this to start with. I just wonder where all the money came from to pay him to do it to start with. I would think something like that procedure would cost high dollars. Hugs, Helen

  3. Snow is so pretty. I was shocked about the octuplets, too. I think the doctor who gave her the fertility treatements should be disciplined, personally. Good to see you posting again, honey. You have a good week. Love, Val xox

  4. I personally will always pray with a patient when asked. They are also saying we can't even have the work prayer in school. Its a sad thing. I say pray for our future. I am very disturbed this woman was allowed to have these children. Money can buy anything it seems, but where did the money come from?

  5. Y'know that mother of octuplets needed somebody to pray with her before she got pregnant.

Well, Revelations predicted that Christians would be persecuted in the end of days. The buzz these days is that the world will end with the end of the Mayan calendar cycle (Dec 23, 2012) so maybe we all ought to continue to pray at work, silently if we have to.

  8. Hi Jeannette, Same snowy weather here in Yorkshire. My son's school is closed but my daugher's is here round the corner so no problem with it. They are just playing outside in the snow. Bless them! Watched Dancing on Ice as well and I agree: as much as I like Todd, it's time for the good skaters to be reward. Keep warm as well. Ciao. A. PS You won the Moleskine, by the way. I will posti it to you asap.

  9. Outside looks like alovely fluffy white blanket..lol thank god I no longer commute it would have been a nightmare this morning.
Glad your keeping up with the excersise you must feel better for it. Dancing on ice wasn't as good last night i thought the scoring was a bit erratic, I thought final 2 didn't deserve to be there.

    Take care

  11. Here everything continues on unless it was like last week and a foot of snow came down overnight...then it was hard because the snow kept coming sooner than they could clear it but we have a large snow clearing crew for the Ohio roads and they are used to it up North. Not so much in the south as it is rare for them just as it is for you.
Enjoy the day inside - looking out...stay warm and safe. 'On Ya'-ma

  13. The snow pictures are so pretty to look at, but glad we no longer live in a snowy part of the USA. Hey lost a chin, way to go dear, keep it up. Think the news reports on the woman who now has 14 kids has us all wondering WHY, especially after reading and hearing the tv reports on her situation.

  16. Yes it is a shocking world we live in during these clearly end times. I'm a Christian too and it's hard to see how things are turning out and we just have to keep fighting the good fight and hold down righteousness somehow. Thank you for sharing your viewpoints on the praying nurse and the irresponsible woman having all those children and apparently no father for the children. Very sad situation because the quality of the children's lives will be terribly affected unless the grandparents are bionic supergrandparents with amazing strength. I loved seeing the pictures of the snow and the beautiful homes on your street. Look how lovely your English garden is... the area with the shrubs. I really like it. Stay warm!

  18. Hi Jeanette. Glad you're doing so well with you weight loss program. I'm done with the snow here (I hope) for this year. I can't imagine any doctor doing that with someone who has to be very unstable to say the least!! That's messing with Mother Nature just a little too much :).......

  19. Jeanette, I just love your house. Its looks so cozy and specially with snow in the picture. The video of the skater gave me a few good laughs. I don't think we have that program here. Unless I just have come across it. Marlene

  21. We had snow up here...We do have forecast for tomorrow...Generally it is only schools that are in the middle of nowhere on ungritted side roads that close up here in the north east...Mind you that can be a fair amount in the shire...Had to laugh at the pictures of london with no buses running and thinking that's not much snow really lol

  22. thanks for the lovely pics..I miss snow believe it or not!! As for the lady with all the babies....absolutely ridiculous...who paid for it?? I had heard about it but haven't read all the facts...seems plain stupid to me....

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh my, that type of snow you have is a coating in our area! No school closing or any disruption for that. Of course there are a few bad drivers who end up going off the road. I think the lady with 8 babies is ridiculous and the Dr who helped her should be held accountable too. She "collects" children it seems. I didn't hear about the nurse yet, but I think that is shameful if they fire her. I have bought a Wii and have been working on it at night. It is fun. Also walking and doing stairs at work.

  24. Hi Jeannette,
I don't think we had as much snow as you did ,and our school stayed open !!We took the children on the big field at the back of the school instead of the icy play grounds .They loved it playing in the snow .I was dreading the paths being icy and slippery today but it wasn't too bad ...I bet Nathan and Daniel had fun making a snowman .Well done in losing a chin lol.....love Jeanxx

  25. i agree with you, i hope there is an investigation on that woman also. 14 kids and lives with her parents, no husband, no job, it is disgraceful. i pray the children are well taken care of. the snow pics look so pretty. i bet the boys are loving the snow. it is snowing here very heavy. schools will be closed tomorrow most likely. I been taking pics of our snow to show the accumulation. wtg on losing a chin, i have a couple i wanna lose also. lol keep warm my friend, tell mike no shoveling. ((((hugs))))

  26. Like you I cannot believe that this young woman was allowed to have 14 children. My jaw dropped when I also read that she is single!!!!!!!!!!!!! She really must have mental problems to want even one more child when she already had six, so who on earth sanctioned fertility treatment????????? I loved your snowy pictures. Eileen x

  27. Many of us over here are perplexed about the woman who had 8 babies in a row and who now has 14. It's a litter, or a tribe. She says she just wants children. It seems to me there are plenty, too many in fact, in the world already that she could have. She also says she plans to nurse them. Good luck lady!

I don't know, I guess we are traditionally more prepared for snow, in some parts of the country. NYC doesn't shut down in the snow, not for long anyway.

    Congratulations on losing your chin.
