Our road taken at 9 a.m. this morning. The freezing fog is still here and it is now nearly lunchtime. Night temperatures here have been minus 7 for several nights in a row.

My Orchid has really thrived and I have never seen so many blooms. It has been flowering like this since early December of last year. It has now reached the stage where, once flowering is over, it needs re-potting. However, it ideally needs to be in a clear plastic pot that allows light to penetrate as Orchid roots need light. I have no idea where to purchase one. Maybe I will be able to find something online. Anyway, it will be a few weeks yet before the flowers finish.

It is so cold today. Much colder than when it snowed, so the heating has been turned up although we try to keep it on low. We have washing drying everywhere, looks like a Chinese laundry.

My exercises are going well but oh, my muscles, I can certainly feel them. I am being extra careful because of my back but am managing to do some every day. Slow and easy does it, the story goes that the tortoise won the race against the hare. I hope to be that tortoise.

I hope your week is going well, dear friends and readers. I have not forgotten you and will be back to commenting on your journals soon. Stay warm.

  2. How nice to have those blooms indoors. It is still snowing here. Roads were covered coming into work this morning. I'll have to clear the walkways when I get home this evening. I'm going to go slowly with that too. Seems my winter exercise is clearing snow. Glad you are doing them slowly. When we're not used to it. It is the only way to go safely.

  9. I love the snow pictures! I am praying for a real good snow here in Kentucky. After being in Florida for five years I found out just how much of a northern girl I am at heart. Wow I did not know orchid roots need light... hope you can find a clear pot somewhere. Yes that would be tough to find. Your flowers are just gorgeous! I miss my garden this time of year when it is so cold. So nice to have house plants. I have one house plant that is real and it needs transplanted to a new pot and more dirt. LOL another thing to add to the to do list. Hope you have a wonderful 2009! Sorry I am very slow getting over here and playing catch up in my journal reading.

  10. Wow, it's cold there. We are having snow and sleet in my town, too. I think snow is very pretty. I don't mind it as long as I can enjoy its beauty and not have to go out in it.

Thanks for playing the Sentence Game, Jeannette. It means alot. I am having a hard time keeping it alive. I struggle with my blog now that it has moved to Blogger. I am so glad you aren't totally giving up writing in yours. Please don't. You can always write about your daily happenings. Your photos are always stunning, as well, and I would miss those. Wow, your orchid is gorgeous!!

You take good care and do know you remain in my prayers... Love, Val xox

  17. Hi Jeannette,

I`m glad the exercises are going well, I know they will reap rewards for you.

I see the amryllis is flowering well, its lovely. I didn`t have one myself this year so its nice to see yours. My garden centre sell clear plastic orchid pots, I`d send one but I think it`d get broken if I posted it. You know which ccompany I work for so try at your lacal branch.

The weather is actually very much milder here today though tonights temperature is forecast to fall and it may be -5 tomorrow night, thankfully the fog that was forecast passed us by. Take care. :o)

    Love and Hugs

-5 during the night though, which is cold enough. Your orchids are really beautiful, you obviously have "the touch". Eileen x

  33. Jeannette, Those flowers are breath taking. Our Lord sure gave us some beautiful things to look at.
RIght now all I can see is white and brown. I am NOT a green thumb although Chuck can be. That is why he misses his Vancouver where things grew so much better.

  34. Hello Jeannette I am glad you are getting into your exercise routine with the maraca's. I will be taking Salty for a walk after this. I have been snowbound all week. 50 miles south of here is a disater area. Ice covering power line, and trees have caused multi-state damage. Some people are traveling 100 miles to get Kerosene and heading back to Kentucky from Illinois. Many will not have electricity for a month, the damage is so extensive. I was fortunate in that sleet instead of ice happened here. Last Feb. 2008 an ice storm took down Mulberry trees onto Salty's fence, which I had to chain saw to get rid of. I was without electricity for 8 hours at the most. It is finally up to 38F today and tommorrow should be in the 40's. My car will finally be usable. I remember viewing the orchid before and it is beautiful. mark
