Thank You All

Photobucket

I want to thank you all for your kindness and understanding after my post of yesterday.

Also to let you know that I have sent off for two DVD's. Both are for older people and also people with arthritis, the exercises are gentle. One disc is exercises that can be done sitting down and the other to be done standing. I have already had confirmation of my order and been told delivery will be in 2 or 3 working days. However, they still might not arrive until after Christmas . I know there was a proposed postal strike scheduled for Friday but I have not heard anymore since. The volume of post at this time of year is enormous but I might just get lucky.

This morning I was up earlier than usual, stripped the beds and got the sheets and duvet covers into the machine and gave the kitchen a really good clean, then did a bit of tidying up elsewhere. I have had a salad for lunch followed by a Satsuma. I am just now drinking a cup of green tea. Never tried this before and I cannot say I like it but I will drink one cup per day as it is supposed to help lower blood sugars and also blood pressure. The benefits are supposed to be many. I will wait and see.

Now I am going to have a little read. I have the life story of Alastair Sim, the wonderful actor who starred in many films including "Christmas Carol", "The Belles of St. Trinians" and "An Inspector Calls". Should be interesting. After that I am going to do some stretching exercises on the bed, just lifting my arms and legs a little.

So, I have started out on my new regime. Of course, being me, I want it now, but realise it will take time to lose weight and also for my sugars to come down. Weight gain does not happen over night so cannot be cured in a morning. But, I have made the all important start.

I do thank those of you who suggested pilates and ti chi. I will see how I go with the ones I have ordered first.

It is a lovely bright day here, looks almost like a summer day except for the bare trees and the fact that it is very cold.

Thanks to all who has sent us Christmas cards, they are so appreciated.

I will do a post before Christmas. In the meantime I will sign off wishing you peace, health and happiness. Do not get too stressed with your holiday preparations. God bless.

  1. I have DVDs for Tai Chi and Yoga and also Dancing with the Stars Cardio.........they work well for me when the weather does not permit me to do my water areobics in the pool or go for my walk.

I live in Florida so the humidy sometimes gets overwhelming. I'm orginally from New England so I understand the snow, ice and cold temps. I miss the snow!

  3. I have my green tea doctored with lemon and honey and like it that way. Perhaps the honey is a no no for you though. I'm sitting at work and no exercise here. I'll go out at lunch time for some shopping and will at least get to walk then. I try to pack alot into 1 hour. Take care and don't overdo. 'On Ya'-ma

  5. Some people say that cinnamon helps keep the blood sugar down by helping insulin uptake... or some such reason. However, this does not work if you are taking your cinnamon regularly on a sticky bun! lol

  7. Dearest Jeannette, You find what is best for you and the biggest thing is to be realistic on your weight loss ability. I always say it takes years to come and so therefore it will not leave fast.
I am on my way downstairs to do some exercises. My tummy is hurting from the sit-ups but I sure would not to look like in my bathing suit on the cruise.
Love you and blessings and hugs to Mike
I so look forward to meeting you both and it IS going to happen one day SIC

    Love Alberta LORI

  8. Hi Jeanette. Glad to hear you're having a sun-shiny day even if it is cold. I don't especially like the taste of green tea so I use a tea bag of it along with a regular tea bag. You also can get green tea in capsule form. Take good care and catch you later:)..........

  11. Hi Jeannette, great that you have started your new "regime" and you are so motivated. I like green tea and I got used to drink it without honey. Apparently it's very healthy. Keep on the good work. All the best. Ciao. Antonella

  14. Sounds like you're off to a good start Jeannette. I actually used to not like tea but I started drinking it again when I was still working. It seems since I've been retired I forget to fire up the tea kettle. I know I don't drink enough water during the day, so I must make an effort to drink some warm water in the form of healthy tea. Take care and come back when you can. Linda in snowy & cold Washington

  15. Oh you are off to a good start. I do the same thing I do my stretches in bed because it is too hard for me to get down on the floor, I've been doing this for years and I think it has helped me stay pretty limber. I learned to like green tea when I lived in Japan and it is extremely healthy for you to drink it, it really does boost the immune system. I'm headed to New York today to be with my grown kids, I haven't had all three of them in the same state or place in several years so I am excited about that and seeing the grandbabies..Have a wonderful blessed Christmas and may all your wishes come true..love, Sandi

  19. merry Xmas to you, Jeannette, and I enjoyed the photos of decorations and hope you are successful with some exercising. I just got back from a walk and carrying my groceries, ugh, that was exercise enough for the day! I try to get in a walk atleast 5 days a week far enough to make a difference. I do feel so much better when I walk. If you can just get your body in better shape and hold your weight down and inch some off hopefully that will be good. Life is a struggle sometimes. Oh, I bought an atlas and now I am going to try to find where each journalist I read lives so I can mark it, so now to find out what side of England you live on! Guido has got me interested in maps and figuring out where everyone is if I can't go there! Gerry
