Magic Smoke + Alerts/Comments

Photobucket

I have today posted quite a lengthy comment on Magic Smoke regarding alerts and comments.

I have asked if Blogger is able to give us an alerts system similar to what we had on J-Land. I am finding commenting far too time consuming. Normally I could have got through all my morning alerts in about an hour. Yesterday it took me four hours, by the afternoon there was about another four hours work. Commenting on blogger takes far too long, waiting for the form to come up, having to type in the verification code which I frequently get wrong (my eyes are not what they were) then making sure that your comment has actually posted. After a few coments you are already tired. Some of us are not as young as we used to be.

So, I have asked if we can have an alerts system and an easier way of commenting. If you feel the same, please leave your views on Magic Smoke. They would not listen to one person but if enough do it................you never know.
PLEASE NOTE: the person answering all queries and comments on Magic Smoke now is a member of the Blogger team . He can pass all our views on to the powers that be. Like I said, if enough request a change and there are plenty of us, just maybe they will take notice.

Here is the link http://journals.aol.com/journalseditor/magicsmoke/

P.S. Please see my yesterday's entry relating to important journal links now here on Blogger - eg. J-Land Angels. Thank you.

  1. I really don't think AOL will have anything to do with an alert system for blogger. The blogger people would be the ones to talk too. I think AOL has pretty much washed their hands of us.

  2. I am in agreement with you. I am so far behind in my reading & commenting. First it was just the time to set up my new blog and then the commenting is painful sometimes. (I always mistake letters for the codes and have to re-do. grrrr.)

  9. Hi Jeannette,

I agree with you about alerst, it can`t be that difficult for them to set up. I just went over and told them how I feel about it, hopefully others will follow suit. How do you know whether your aol journal has been transferred over?

    Love Sandra xxxx

  10. I will definitely follow the link and say something especially since it's a person from blogger. It really is very time consuming to try and keep up with everybody. xx Chris

  11. Somehow I don't think Blogger can be strongarmed or will listen. In reality the AOL'ers who migrated here are a small number in the larger picture of who Blogger is. (Hugs)Indigo

  12. You need to set up a feed to get an alert for entries on the blogs...At least i think you do...I've just started 'following' blogs so that way the latest entry appears on my own account dashboard...What i don't like is not being able to reply to a comment without it being left on the comments bit of the blog as i don't have email addys for everyone...I just used to hit reply to alerts on AOL...But hey ho one day i may set up a feed link and have email that way...My AOL journal transfered easily but am gonna stick with the new one and just keep old one as a reminder and maybe close it once i have printed off what i need from it xxx

  14. I really wish they would give us alerts, because as I just said in a comment left for you, even with reader, I somehow missed a few posts you did...that means I'm missing others as well, and that makes me sad. Oh well, we can only hope they will listen to us.

    Thanks for taking the lead!

  15. Try bloglines for the alerts to the journals you want to follow. Also have you checked the alert type system in your dashboard? My only complaint is the word verification thing as I get them wrong many times myself. Like you, I opted to allow people to comment without having to do that word verification.

  16. Please note my blogger address is now: I had to change it in order for the migration to apply.

  17. Jeannette,

I just wanted to come over and thank you for your prayers for Sarah and Bennie. You're right God works wonders all the time and I know that someday Sarah and Bennie will have the child they so want. The prayers of this community warm my heart in a way that I cannot express. Thank you so much,
    Hugs,
    Melissa
